Only 36MPG? I usually get 900+ km to a tank, average of 6.4L/100km which is 44mpg. I find my 2L Selespeed is more economical than my 1.2L Punto Sporting CVT was. The 156 is perfect for my needs. It's a brilliant car that makes me wonder about the need for a diesel (higher licensing costs in NZ) or even the need for a hybrid (about twice the outlay to save a further litre per 100km).

Having said that, I did learn recently when going for the magic 1000km on a tank that my fuel gauge never quite gets down to 0 - I ran out! Moral of that one is to fill up about 50-80km after the light comes on even if the gauge doesn't move.

MPG will depend on driving conditions.
I expect there is far less traffic in New Zealand than in the South East of England...

I wouldn't be surprised if there were more cars in London alone than the whole of New Zealand!!
That does hamper our progress and makes for a poorer MPG.

Sorry to bump an old thread here, I've had issues with my MPG now for alittle while, cleaned maf and air intake, carb'ed the throttle body and had a new down pipe and flexi put on, however i am still only getting from 20L 100miles, average of 23MPG, this is massively down on the stated 32! im at a loss now as to where the problem may be, all i could suggest is that one of the fuel injectors does sound alittle ropey... really very annoying if im honest as i got rid of my GTV6 to improve MPG but am actually averaging the sodding same!!
