I don't think you should worry too much about American cars until you get there. I'm not too keen on US cars either but some of the sports models aren't too bad and suit the US roads and life style. Don’t jump too quickly to any conclusions – give the life style a chance to sink in first.

Big SUV's are hugely popular and once you've driven a big V8 you'll be hooked on the low down torque and V8 growl and fuel is way cheaper than the UK

You can always pick up an Italian sports model for the weekends…….and maybe a car as well
