sump difference?

i need a sump for my alfa 156 1.8 ts (1998) a mate of mine has just started work in a garage and the guy has 1 for sale but he cant rember wot litre engine its off, i pressume only a 1.8 or 2.0 will fit. hes not sure if its off a 1.6 or 1.8 is there any way you can tell just by lookin at it ie extra or less holes or summot like that. any help appreciated as always thanx

1.8 and 2.0 are the same (147/156 wise). 1.6 sumps don't have the sticky-out bit at the back.

2.0 sumps from 166's are different as well.

Not quite, Iain...its only the later 147 1.6s that have the smaller sump....early ones use the same sump as any other TS - except the 166.

So you can use the sump off any engine capacity 16v TS 145/146/155/156/GTV and most 147s.

Only caveat is that the 155 sump has tappings for oil temp and level sensors, but they can be blocked off....

I usually have the odd sump around......

thanks chris but the guy who i mite be gettin it of providing its the right one, only wants £30 but willlet u know if i can find out if his 1 fits or not hes almost sure its from a 156 but he couldnt remeber wot engine size ie 1.6 1.8
