As the title says, I need a little reality check before I do something potentially foolish/expensive.
I have been rather partial to Alfas since my older brother bought a '96 P reg GTV 2.0 TS Lusso. I always wanted to buy it from him but events conspired against me.
Anyway, I currently own an MGZT diesel which is a good work horse but not much fun and not all that frugal returning approx 41mpg.
I do 25k miles a year, approx 18k of which are A road/Motorway (and a few obligatory traffic jams). The rest are general family miles. I am a generally steady driver with a pretty light right foot, but like to be able to press on when I feel the need, and enjoy a spirited drive on occasion.
So here's the thing.
I want a GT. In fact I have to have a GT, they are knee weakeningly pretty and every time I see one I want one even more and that's why I need your help/info.
I'm not too bothered about a JTS, but would love a V6. Common sense says get the JTDm. SO what i really need is some info about real world MPG. IF there are any of you out there that think, from the description above, you might have a similar driving profile to me and own either a JTDm or V6 please let me know what sort of MPG you get. Preferably if they are real brim to brim figures that would be even better but trip computer will be good enough. I'd love to get some figures from over a few months if pos as one off trips don't really help me with the sums I will need to do to make my decision.
Finally, I know I should be choosing my Alfa with the heart but I have to consider that this will be cost effective over the next 2 years or it will never get budget approval from the other half, and lets face it, the heart chose the GT in the first place, so only fair that the head gets some say in which one.
Many thanks in advance
