"Driver side IS the "ecu". "
Hey, check ME out for some weird activity then! Both my windows would 'bounce' back down again when I went over speed bumps (see similar post from some other poor victim) when I tried to raise them, so they got diagnosed as needing new Control Units each side. So I ordered these in... £301 total please. (**ck! Wish I'd just lived with that little problem)!
THEN... when these had been replaced (and the battery replaced too, for some genuine dead-cell that meant I'd often get stranded with no charge left) the windows would only go down an inch at a time BUT... get this... would not go up at all unless... I opened and closed the doors, when they would gracefully glide up to their former glory! WHAT!!!!!??????
Tried the 10-second reset rubbish, didn't work. Tried the full-open reset rubbish, windows opened but didn't reset. Tried the full-closure rubbish, windows DIDN'T go up, so didn't work. Ahhhhh!
But then, reading the post from Alfa Tuner he seems to be saying that the Drivers side control unit IS the ECU. When I took the car back to Alfa they diagnosed this new fault as needing a new 'body' control unit (?)... £343 fitted thanks! **ck!
I thought I was going to be onto a winner with my new driver and passenger door-mounted ECU's, as they were rated as SW 15 (latest version) AND H2 (am optimistically reading this as Hardware Version 2). But I don't think I got given different ECU's for each side. AND... (literally looking at the invoice for these parts) it reads "Part number 0060683319 - Door ECU (O/S GT) QTY 2". Well... do you think that's it? Have I been supplied with 2 of the same parts, where really I need one specifically for each side?
Answers on a postcard please. I'm gonna try swappin' out the old ones one-by-one to see if I can get some life back in the old baby. If it can save me £343 then I'm all over it! I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, if anyone knows whether these window ECU's ARE driver/passenger-specific then please get involved and let me know.
