Worrying engine noise
Hi all, this is my first post so hoping someone can help me out with an issue I have on a new (to me) 147 1.6TS. I have looked all over the forums and cant find anything that clearly pinpoints what I am hearing/experiencing.
Basically, after around a minute of the car starting (once a little warmed up) - there is a faint noise coming from what seems to be the centre back of the engine bay. It almost sounds like it could be a bearing, faintly grinding a bit. This increases with the speed of the engine, but seems to dissapear at around 2700rpm (either that, or the engine noise drows it out). The sound is worse in the cabin. Although the belt was done when I bought the car last week, I dont think they replaced the idler, tensioner etc. In my opinion, its either the water pump or variator (which makes the diesel sound at startup for a few seconds). But surely, they would always make the noise, not just when warmed up? Not losing any fluids.
Had an engine flush with Forte yesterday, new Castrol GTX 10w40 - made no difference.
I am highly concerned that its the water pump bearing, because i really dont want the belt to snap or fall off if it seizes!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated for some peace of mind!!
