Buying 147 2L Selespeed, seeking advice
I'm new here. Buying a second car and decided on an Alfa 147, been looking about and going to see my first one on Sunday. It's a 2L Selespeed black with red leather seats (02). It has 69K on the clock. I love the look of the car but still have people nagging me (two ex Alfa owners who had bad cars, one had multiple engines, multiple steering racks) saying don't do it, but I feel compelled! I will be spending up to 3k and don't want to end up with a nail.
Some of the cars on ebay have had 6 owners in 6 or 7 years. I am avoiding those.
The Selespeed worries me as it's 'just more to go wrong' and will cost a lot to repair vs a normal gearbox and clutch. But is that a load of rubbish?
My other car is a VX220 and I'm keeping that. I think the 2L Alfa will keep me entertained with the roof keeping me warm!
Whatever I buy i want it to be inspected, would the AA do a decent job, know what to look for? or is there a list of good UK wide indy Alfa dealers who will do this?
any help and advice appreciated,
