Some of you may have seen my other thread, in which I told you that I was considering an Alfa 147 1.6 for my first car, and wanted some opinions. The feedback I got was that the 147 was a very nice car, and despite ever so slight questionable reliability, a car that would be a good choice (particularly given the surprisingly low insurance costs!).
However, I just thought that, out of interest, I would see how the 1.6 156 compared in regards to insurance costs. It was a couple of a hundred pounds cheaper, thus putting the saloon a hairs width away from my best quote for a 1.0 Aygo!
I was quite surprised by this, but I suppose you don't often hear of 17 year old 'lads' crashing Alfa Romeo saloons!
Essentially, I wanted to know what you think of the 156 both in isolation and when compared to the 147. I guess that visibility would be of a little concern to me, as would the comfort and handling of the car. I have heard conflicting reports about the 156's reliability - any thoughts or experience you may have about this would be much appreciated! One benefit of the 156 for me is that you can occasionally find one in Turismo trim (the cheapest to insure) with leather seats. Such a combination was not available on the 147 - and I love leather!
Thanks for your time, I apologise for posting so many threads!
