From memory, I was shopping about 12 months ago, they were pretty good. But IME warranties are bought very much on trust (see below), and I trust Lyles so would expect them to see you right in the worst case.
Just out of interest Flish, what went wrong? (or should I buy the car then ask
The gist was the cambelt went. She had 84k on and the place I bought it from categorically told me it had been replaced, it hadn't. End result, 2nd hand engine, belts, tensioners, fluids etc set me back £3.5k. Lyles did the work btw. Didn't trust garage I bought it from and to date he has paid £750! (Law suit imminent, have exhausted solicitors letters).
On top of that I had a brake overhaul (again poor work / lies from person I bought it from), middle section exhaust, and recently full set (lower and upper) of front wishbones, and two front tyres. Admittedly I didn't need the full wishbones, only bushes but it made sense to me.
Most of that stuff is general wear and tear, especially as she's a touch over 90k miles now, so you'll have a while to save up! What's annoying though is most of the cost is because someone was too lazy / tight to service it properly and get the belt done :-(
