had my alfa for a couple of years, but just recently( with the hot weather) started overheating in traffic. Didnt bother me, few miles to work, temp around 80. I can see thermostat opening, temps drops to 70. But today went for a longer drive and temps went over 90 and a bit more, putting on heating on full ( not pleasant i know
) temps were ok - just below 90 or 90 in traffic. About 10 miles from home, put the air con on, and on dual cariage way temps were about 90, but then roadworks with 40 mile zone, and temps went over 90 and kept rising, even heating didnt work ( cold air comming out). Temps went up and up, no way to pull over, went for a mile on red, then stopped. Opened bonet and coolant pipes hard and hot. Fan's spinning. Then stopped the engine for a 2 mins, started again and heating suddenly started working, and temps dropped to 90 in about a minute. is it the thermostat or the rad, or the relay or sensors?
Pluggin laptop in the minute to check the temps and fans.
Please help, want to sell mine and buy a 2.4 diesel one
And noone will trade in car that is a bit overheating.
