Right - I finally got to test drive one near me today (this one
). I presume those are the sports seats (even if they're not leather)?
Anyway - overall I was pleased enough. It was a little quicker than I expected, though I noticed a bit of turbo lag. My 320d didn't really have this; the power was pretty constant throughout the revs. The clutch seemed a little heavy, but then again, I've not had much experience of a manual over the last 2 years. Steering seemed quite light.
Some slight downsides:
The dash didn't look quite as nice as it does in the pictures.
The centre console hasn't been properly changed for the RHD market. It seems to point towards the passenger.
The rear visibility is very poor
Headroom in the back isn't great, but not really an issue for me.
The cruise control looks a little fiddly. I much prefer the wheel mounted one in my current car.
I had a quick look at the onboard computer and I must have read it wrong because I thought it said 14l/100km - that's about 20mpg, which I hope to God can't be right.
Overall I did like it, and it is a car I could see myself driving. However, the cost to change is going to hurt and I have to really think about what I would be getting out of it.
I wouldn't get that particular car though - no service history, no leather, no parking sensors and no Bose sound system (though I didn't think the stock one was all that bad). Loved the colour and the alloys though.
