Well after many suggestions like wishbone and AR bar bushes, I think knocking front suspension is cured - had a new steering rack fitted just before the warranty ran out after a fight about date which warranty actually ran out (good job too as was appx 600 for the rack alone). Done due to excessive play in it (some play is normal they say), and so far the front is alot tighter/damped, the knockign seems to of gone, and the creaking front pillar trim has stopped, presumably because when they put the subframe back everything got properly aligned and tightened? Just need real cold weather to be sure, but so far so good
But in true AR fashion they broke something else
- now got a slight rattle when start I up, and switch off, like the engine is knocking almost - found 1 pipe not in its clip and rattling on roll bar, but this has not cured it!!!! Any ideas - is there an actual knock sensor down there they might not of plugged back?
Also ever looked at the outer CV gaiter - they are PLASTIC, so obviously designed to break, as they are hard thin brittle and cr*p,
but the inner ones are nice thick rubber!
Mine has a hole they advised me about when doing the rack, I replaced with one of those temp glue around ones last night to get by for a few weeks, but the orig looked like it had been attacked with some pliers! reckon they were trying to get some money out of me?? I am 85% sure its not accidental
Now cheapest to replace is £70-80 at veloces, barnet
Hold the rear end slide....don't run wide!
