The belt is not overlapping the sprockets otherwise I would have been very worried.
The crank pulley wasn't disturbed when I changed the belt, and the old belt sat on the pulleys in the normal position, thats why I can't undertstand whats going on. I was super careful when putting it all back together to make sure everything was correct, and I couldn't see any evidence of a sheared woodruff key.
I would have thought a sheared woodruff key would have caused the same symptoms as a snapped cambelt.
I will check the alternator, but I have a feeling it is not from the auxillary belt circuit.
Attached is a photo of the old belt fitted, and yes that is a white plastic tensioner.
