Re: GT Shocker!!!
Just to add a few words.....
EVO's a great mag and I agree with Rick's comments.
Have a look at the main Alfaromeo.uk website and EVO's comments re the new Alfa diesel range.....they give them top marks and rave reviews.
Alan Pattison (EVO's publisher) had a two 156's as long term test vehicles for 2 years in the mag and had great things to say about it.
I personally find EVO's reviews factual and honest, e.g. they do report all the good points and bad and are prepared top change their ratings of cars following different road tests.
If you look in the Test Results section of the mag they initially rated the 156 2.5 V6 with 5 stars, i.e. the maximum award. They then tested the car on some winding and undulating welsh roads alongside the Honda Accord Type R, Vectra GSI, Mondeo STI and as a result, re-rated the 156 with 3 stars on the basis that it's handling didn't cope well with the roads.
I admire any mag that is prepared to change it's reviews based on new data or tests and let's face it, whilst I love the 156 dearly, it is not the best handling car over bumpy and uneven road surfaces, e.g most UK B roads.
What I'd like to see them do is re-test the 156 with Eibach springs fitted which transforms the 156 on uk roads - see my previous threads on this.
