Thanks Joss !
the mod on the board inside the connector looks simple , but you can easily blow up the chip with too much heat... (which happens now and then
and testing the cables takes a lot of time (see youtube rarebear14 for a movie)
Thanks Joss/Rarebear. No offence rarebear but can't see benefit in my case of paying you for a cable when I can solder and mod my own (can't find your video), and you don't say if you are selling modified VAG KKL or ELM either - assuming for £30 its the VAG - in which case I can always buy two off eBay and hard mod one for airbags, and other for the rest for the same price.
If I were you I'd be tempted to go for the elm interface (I presume they can be nodded in the same way) as the can bus stuff does look good
As long as the ELM also supports K-Line like the VAG I would assume so - not 100% clear on that. I did notice tonight on a more relaxed reading of the FiatECUScanner site that it states:

Which seems to suggest its worth the extra £20 or so for the ELM one. The problem is until I get time to sit down and work out exactly which ECU's I have its not easy to tell - hence the question on the forum if anyone is using either on a JTD GT.
ELM327 and FiatECUScanner FTW!
Thanks, is your comment specific to the GT/JTD, or just in general?
I do know someone who has access to an examiner, its just really so I can read fault codes and do a bit of general investigation/experimentation to be honest. Don't have any specific need to talk to any of the less common ECU's, just looking to read engine stats etc to start with.
