Cambelt, Variator??? WTF!
Recently had cambelt failure on my 02 156 1.8, Had all work done new belt, valves etc. Then after 100 miles had problems , I thought the belt had gone again but it turns out it was a faulty tensioner? never did any damage so replaced belt and tensioner at the garages expense. No sooner had I collected the car it was running like it was only firing on 3 at higher revs, Was told this was the variator and cost me another £200, "definately will be that" got the car back and runs fine at low revs soon as i hit 3500 it judders sharply once and system motor failure warning sign comes on, If i drop speed again it runs fine, It has also done it once at lows revs but is mainy at 3500, Any ideas? The mechanic doesn't seem to have a clue, An I can't afford to just go to another garage.
