Yet another 'Motor Control System Failure' thread
I picked up an 03 1.6 147 t.spark from alfa spare parts just over a week ago. The guy there was fantastic and really helpful.
We've had no problems at all in the week that it's been driven. After all, he MOT'd it, put a new battery in, new discs, pads and suspension arms - not to mention the new cambelt and service.
But driving home from picking my grand daughter up tonight, I had to overtake a tractor so put the car in second and used the gear upto about 6000 revs (first time I've gone this high). Overtook fine, but just as I pulled in and moved from 2nd to 4th gear, the motor system control failure alert came up. The dash beeped 3 times with the management light coming on and then all returned to normal.
I drove the 60 miles back at a normal leisurely pace with no problems. We've had no issues (noises, clunks, loss of power etc.) with the car before and none on the journey home but this has unsettled me a little.
I've read that a likely cause of this warning is the battery, however, since this is a new battery, I wouldn't expect any problems.
Naturally, I will be calling the chap I bought the car off tomorrow but in the mean time, could someone please put my mind at ease?
