Right - well I'm back and happy to report that my little Alfa now has a full stainless exhaust, lovely and shiny. Not 100% convinced on the noise right now, bit louder than I had hoped low down, then has a good wail higher up, sure it will grow on me - sounds quite racey though, especially when you fire her up. May be a little bit of resonance under load around 2200 rpm.
Not going to say that I can feel an enormous difference in performance - possibly seems to pick up a bit quicker, but that's not really what I was looking for anyway. After it had burnt off the oily residue it sailed through the emissions test on the MOT with the sports cat, so this is good news.
The staff were very friendly, but the job took way longer that I'd hoped - I was there from 11 am to 6 pm to get the exhaust and MOT!! The place was teeming with cars coming and going - a couple of nice machines too! Fortunately they have a nice reception with seats and a big TV, plus it's a 10 min walk into Walsall (not that there is much to do!) Unfortunately my car failed the MOT on brakes (with flying colours), so I'm looking into that now. To give MIJ their due, they apologised for making me wait around all day and didn't charge for the MOT - can't complain.
One thing to check with them before you go is what, if anything, they will charge you for your exit section of the tailpipe. Think they only give you a basic oval exit for the advertised price, although the wording is a bit misleading. They didn't charge me for mine in the end - it's faily like the original, just more "filled in" instead of opening out further down the pipe.
Here are a couple of pictures, first from under the car, you can see the new cat, straight section pipes instead of wiggly, and a couple of smaller silencers, then the back end of the car... - to be updated when photobucket lets me do something.....
