Alfa Romeo 1.9 JTD Motor Control System Failure
New to the forum, but I'm not new to the 'slight issues' connected with owning an Alfa.
I've had a 147 previously and we've had a GTV, Spider, 156 saloon and 156 sportwagen in the family previously.
I've recently purchased a 1.9 JTD GT second-hand. I've had over 1,000 miles of faultless driving until this morning when the Motor Control System Failure light came on a mile from work, immdeidately cutting the power. Mine has had a remap on it, and I'd read here before purchasing the car that the problem can be solved by pulling over, turning the engine off and on again. That's not resolved the problem. The problem has cleared the trip computer so there is no readout and the fuel guage has hit the bottom despite the car being three quarters full?
I limped to work this morning - I say limped but it was more like a judder - and parked the car up. Have left it for an hour or two and tried it again but it still has the same problem.
I was hoping someone might be able to give me an idea of what the issue may be? I thought it could be a battery issue if it's caused the trips to clear and put the fuel guage down, but I really don't know?
I'm 40 miles from my local dealer so don't know if I'll be okay to drive there or not?
Any help would be muchly appreciated as I'm a bit lost to be entirely truthful.
