2004 GT 1.9JTD Power Issue

Hello all, after some advice.

About 5 months ago, I tried accelerating up a hill and the engine seemed like it was strangled and the turbo just didn't cut in. I downchanged a gear and it seemed ok. Since then the only problem (until yesterday) was that I could feel the engine stutter sometimes when on cruise control at 80mph in sixth gear when on an inclined gradient.

Yesterday however, the car seemed to lose all power and it was a real struggle getting it to drive more than 50mph.

From reading on here I am thinking it may be the MAF sensor or the EGR valve.

Not having any experience with these, I don't know which one it is likely to be and also not sure on their location.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Have a look at this:

It's an hours work to strip and clean the EGR - I suspect it ought to be on the service schedule given the number of people on here with this fault...
