Re: GTA Brakes 'the True Story'?
I started this thread back in January when I learnt that 156 GTAs coming off the production line from the end of November would have a revised front braking system and when I expected delivery of my 156 GTA Selespeed on 1st March.
Also I promised to post photos of my front brakes when I got the car.
As far as photos are concerned, Pexi beat me to it by taking photos in a showroom a few weeks ago.
I took delivery of my car on Saturday and the brakes are as shown in Pexi's photo.
The discs are obviously much larger, but the are conventional and not grooved or drilled. The caliper is larger too and is mounted nearer to the vertical ie at about the 9 o'clock position rather than 10 o'clock.
I deduce therefore that the fixings on the hub for the callipers have been modified and, if Alfa do initiate a recall then it will be a big mod including new hubs.
I'm very pleased with the GTA, but I've only done 175 miles so far and, as I believe in running an engine in properly, I've not exceeeded 4,000 rpm yet.
I have problems withthe Connect Nav in that:
I'm getting No Phone Connected when I try and use the GSM phone.
and No connection to Navigation when I try and use the Navigation System
and GPS Time display is blank
and Connect Status is Disabled.
Unfortunately I picked the car up on a Saturday when Cleveley's one technician who understands Connect Nav wasn't working and the salesman's best suggestion was it must be the wrong Navigation CD.
I'm taking it in tomorrow and am optimistic it will be fixed in the day.
Any suggestions on what might be wrong would be welcome, though.
