Alfa 156 JTS - Fast Speed kicking in too slowly.

The car is getting to around 110/120 at idle in traffic and the fast speed seems to kick in right at the last minute.

If I hit the Air Con button the fan will engage and bring it back down to temp, but this is less than ideal.

Is there a way I can join the connections on the fast speed resistor to ensure that when the slow speed is due to kick in at 90, the fast speed kicks in instead.

Also where does the required resistor sit? (I checked the upper one a few months ago and it looked like new)

The radiator/thermostat is all tip top.
