Yes, the World Cup was more memorable than any other World Cup... well done SA for hosting it!
How's yours worked out? It worth having a go? Dension seems a better product and I can get support here in SA but it locks the screen when plugged in and there is no way on the ones that work with 156 that you can use it as a handsfree too, which you can with the X.
What do you think?
I'm really happy with mine.
It arrived promptly and with reasonable instructions (obviously a product from China). Easy to install and get working in a few minutes.
There are many nice touches, like the way it pauses the iPod when you mute the stereo, and like how the screen lights up to show the next track when you press the appropriate steering wheel button but not when it is in 'playlist' mode (discs 2-10), in case you don't want the screen to light up at night.
So it is a well-made and carefully-thought-out product, does what it is claimed to do, good value. It's a much better solution than a new headunit, which will never fit with the looks of the car. It literally gives a new lease of life to the standard stereo. I can't think of anything else that I'd want the stereo to do. I can even watch videos on the iPod...
I had one problem the other day - when in direct-control mode, the iPod would play the first selected song, but then not the next or the next after that, etc. Listening closely, I could hear the hard drive spinning up repeatedly. I did a full format and restore and it is back to working normally. I'm certain this is an iPod problem rather than an XCarLink problem, since the iPod couldn't play songs even when unplugged from the XCarLink.
