your local garage wont have the cam locking kit, or whatever its called! best not to risk it, but its your choice.
I just had my belts and variator done, cost me about £400 with my indy, that included new oil and filter of course. -he also did a few other small things
a dealer would charge over £500 so dont do that.
you might want to look at the water pump too?
variator failing - engine makes loud rattle/clicking on startup, like a diesel. my engine started it the day after its first belt change! waited 3 years to get it done! the engine also ticked quite loud on tick over which I thought was just a poor engine - bad previous owner ettc. but it was also the variator. causing this noise not just on start up.
