Well Happy Please help - Faulty Actuator in 156 2000

As my little alfa was giving me issues of skipping gears and selespeed light flashing on the dashboard, which wont allow to drive the car further until cooled..
So thought to get it checked, but was advised there is fault with clutch, rpm sensor and actuator, which would cost me like more than the value of car...

Can someone please shade light on it...
is actuator a real fault in my car?

Sorry to hear it.

Who (which dealer/workshop) has given you that advice? I ask, because often the default 'dealer' response is to replace the whole lot.

However, pin them down (ie: discuss how they concluded the above). Reason being, it may be only the accumulator that needs replacing, which is just as likely as the actuator failing. Difference being, the accumulator alone can be much cheaper.

Feel free to discuss on the Oz forums where a lot of local knowledge can be helpful cos others have faced this same issue:
