Problem with 147 JTD 8v - Induction / turbo?
Sorry I have to make my first post here - wasn't intending it to be asking for help with my new car, but hey ho.
Have owned it for a couple of months, generally been fine except for a problem with the clutch slave cylinder which was fixed under warranty.
This feels a bit more serious.
When I accelerate anything over a minimal amount of throttle, i.e. on boost on the turbo I can hear a whooshing / induction type sound which from in the car sounds a bit like someone has turned the heater on full.
It stops when I take my foot off the pedal. Tried it with the window down and the whoosh is extremely loud. Its not a chattery screech though, so have provisionally ruled out a blown turbo.
Seems to be quite a lot of smoke out of the back under acceleration, but since its dark outise, it is hard to tell if the smoke is black or blue or whatever.
The noise suddenly started tonight driving my friend home to his house. Thought maybe something has popped off or split or something - seemed to suddenly start happening, not a gradual thing.
It had been slightly smoky before under hard acceleration, but I thought that was just someting that diesels did?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
