Power loss at 3500 rpm
I'm new here but have to say that this is a quality forum, really useful and vibrant.
Anyway, on to my problem.
I have just had my Alfa 156 2.0 TS fitted with a Sports Cat Exhaust, CDA and Engine Remap, however I am experiencing temperamental power. Basically what happens is that when I hit roughly 3500 rpm in any gear the car kind of hiccups for a second and power seems to then tail off quite abruptly, often leaving me unable to push the car beyond 100 mph. As I said however this problem seems to come on and then after a week or so diminish, allowing me to over-rev in any gear and continue to accelerate beyond 3500 rpm, meaning that the car continues to accelerate up to 120 mph+. It then comes back again after another week, couple of weeks at an unspecified time and for no noticeable reason. Now I know from when I had the job done that the variator is knackered and I am really just asking you guys whether this sounds like the problem? If not, what is causing this temperamental power drop?
Any advice or knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
