I was looking at swapping my 2.5 V6 for a smaller diesel..
My car usually does around 23mpg
A stilo diesel does around 55mpg
So allowing for the insurance and tax being a little cheaper etc that would save me around £7-800 per year, wich is less than the depreciation would be on a newer car (my car lost an average of £3k per year, 'till I got it
I do around 8000 miles per year.
If your 147 is less thirsty than my car your savings will be smaller
If you do less miles your savings will be smaller too
IMHO your missus don't like you liking the car...my missus hates my car, and hates that I like it, but she's straight about that (and part of her dislike is the performance, and her worrying about whether or not I am stuck upside down in a ditch on the way home)
Sit down and explain what the car means to you, that its a better interest than going down the pub, blowing your wages on beer and chasing loose women, and if she won't listen and understand, during a quiet and rational chat.....
show her the door
Its not abouut the car, its about a partnership based on MUTUAL trust ,respect and honesty, if you aint got that much, this will be the thin end of the wedge
(in saying that I took my stainless Zorst off 'cos the noise it made upset my better half(and our neighbours) but she didn't tell me too, only told me after how happy she was when it came off)
