Rear screen wiper and front rain sensor issues!

So i've got a 147 that's got 264.000km on the dials.
So far she's done a very good job at keeping a smile on my face,
but last week the rear screen wiper suddenly stopped mid action...
Tried turning the car off and back on, but that didn't work.

Would this be the motor that's dead or something else?

Also, next to that, I've got another strange thing happening as of yesterday.
My car's equipped with the almighty rain sensor but yesterday it seemed broken.
When selecting the interval/sensor, the car selected a setting and stayed with it.
It acted as if it didn't have the rain sensor fitted...
If it was set to a specific interval I could actually increase or decrease the frequency of wiping by the stalk switch...

Anyone got any tips or tricks that I can try before taking it to the dealer?

ok, after a little bit of searching I figured out that either my wiper motor was kaput or that it is suffering from rust as a couple of guys on the forum have had.

So I disassembled the whole thing down to the motor itself, had it soak in WD40 a full night and now it's working fine again
Put the whole thing back together and my rear wiper as now wiping away again.

So the only thing that remains at this point is my issue with my rain sensor.
Tried it again today and it still doesn't react the way it used to.

Would resetting my ECU fix the issue?
Anyone has already encountered a misbehaving rain sensor before?
A little help on this one would be appreciated!

Sorry don't know about rain sensors but I have to clean the rear wiper motor shaft about every 10 months or so. Not sure why it suffers so much for seizing because it gets switched on first thing if the fronts are on for one wipe anyway. I have had this on other cars notably Fiat Uno but Peugeots and Fords as well
