Anyone willing to help me?

Hi everyone I'm having a bit of a mare with my selepeed, it keeps jumping to neutral, then will not let me select any gears, got towed home by the RAC the other night, the next day i got in it and the pump primed when door opened/mar pos, and hey presto like nothings happened went into gear, without the engine running it selects all gears also, I haven't driven it though again as i know cars don't just fix themselves especially alfas. I have noticed a leak below the selespeed area on my drive and been topping up every week or so, before the alformentioned happened it lost all gears bar R,2nd,4th sometimes 5 was okay also but 1st and 3rd were the worst, what I am asking for is for someone with alfadiag and cable to come and check it out for me as my alfa mechanic is in the maldives, and I need my car, I will pay of course, I am in Southampton.

the leak may be due to you over filling it with oil, the excess then gets blown out of the breather pipe attached to the sele reservoir, some members fit a 'catch tank' at the end of the pipe to prevent this.

To me, it sounds the same as when my sele pump went, mine indeed fixed itself while waiting for the RAC and was fine for the next 100 miles home. The cost of a new one is 250 or so plus fitting, or it may simply be a poor connection in the power to the pump, eg relay or the multi pin connector.

A few mins on AlfaDiag will reveal all.
