OK, perhaps not the best thing to do, I allowed my son to talk me into buying a 2000 156 2l.
Really nice looking car, black with toys. Thats the good news, the bad news is that it is a non runner, which I knew
Anyway the car had been standing for some time and has a FSH and a lowish mileage, 80k.
When the car came off the road, it was a very poor starter and eventually would only start on a tow. Then the ECU and Immobiliser was changed, no help it seems and then the head was taken off and skimmed. The mechanic did not have timing gear so he "guessed" the timing and told me it ran, al be it very badly, then got the proper cam blocks and retimed it and it failed to run at all.
I have re timed it, it was out and checked compressions, all seems well.
however it still will not run, it took me ages to get Unidiag to talk to it and produced the follwing: U1600, P0335, P1513, P0655, P0654.
Also, there is a relay under the bonnet clicking away, I am guessing it's the fuel pump, brown holder I think.
Any ideas as to the best place to start..........
