Wheels, tyres and locking bolts
Just thinking of writing a script for a new film starring Vinnie Jones when it occurred to me that it would make a better thread on this forum instead.
This has more than one theme running through it, so do try and keep up.
Just bought a 2001 156 2.0TS Veloce and it has come with 5 hole "teledial" wheels. I ordered some locking wheel bolts from Euro Car Parts which have arrived, but appear to be almost twice as long as the normal bolts holding the round holey things onto the car. I'm taking them back tomorrow as they appear wrong. There was a time in my life when I would have just got progressively longer torque wrenches and applied more and more pressure until they went on. But now I'm older and (possibly) wiser. So with this in mind, does this mean they are the wrong bolts entirely, or by some bizarre Italian form of logic will they actually be the correct ones?
Secondly, I looked at the alfa156.net site (as there are no handbooks) and they list the 2.0 TS as having 205/60R15s whereas ours has 205/55R16s. Is this correct for the one we've bought?
Thirdly, can anyone in the North West recommend a good alloy wheel refurbisher on our region. They aren't bad but the laquer is going in some spots and bubbling slightly in others.
