147 Brake issue... is the Garage correct or not?
Basically I bought a 147 Lusso 1.9 JTDm a couple of weeks ago, its currently getting fixed and when I ran it in i told them i thought the brakes needed looking at.
Basically you put your foot on the brake, car stops, but if you keep you foot on the pedal and press you can push the pedal right down to the floor! Also if you pump the pedal it goes rock hard after 3 or 4 pumps.... now I'm not stupid and instantly thought air in the system.
They have checked it out and nothing, apparently they have checked everything else too inc master cyclinder and cant find anything wrong, then they said its normal for a diesel alfa... my first reaction.. what a load of s*&$. Everyone I have spoke to laughs and calls them idiots... but they are insisting on this and the guy just told me over the phone he has checked it and it is right.
It doesn't sound right to me, I have already been told by Consumer Direct to get it checked over if I'm not happy... but I thought I would throw it out there for the experts to have a read (and maybe a chuckle to yourself!).
Are they right... or am I right?
I have never know it to be right to be able to push a pedal all the way down.
It has a full dealer history, the last one being feb this year.
Had an alfa before but it wasnt a diesel, so apprently I'm not in a position to know these things (even though I have owned other diesel makes and they dont do this)
Any comments guys? (and gals)
Hopeyfully I will get it back tomorrow morning.... i miss my car!
