Reverse Light Switch
The reverse light and parking sensors stopped working a couple of months back on my GT. I read similar posts here, and found out about the switch on the gear box, and the known problems with the wires breaking.
At the weekend, I removed the battery & tray and checked out the wiring. First thing I found was that it had already been repaired at some point (new pieces of wire 'extensions' - one of which seemed to be joined right inside the connector). The connector and soldered wires joins were corroded, so I replaced the previous repair, cleaned up the connector and checked through with a multi-meter. So far, so good.
Much to my annoyance, this didn't fix the problem when assembled. I am now trying to think of addtional tests I could've / should've done. I am thinking that if I exposed the joins in the wires, I could put the meter across the output of the switch to test. If I do this - I assume I would be looking for simple open circuit to short circuit when reverse is selected? (and not a voltage)
Next thing to try would be to replace the switch itself. Has anyone done this? Whats involved?
