Help Centeral locking not very sensitive

Hi folks wondering if you can help me with my centeral locking on my 147.

The centeral locking does seem very responsive but its a bit random with it, some times it will open and lock first press of the key, other times i`ll have to hold the button down for anything up to thirty seconds sometimes i have to relock it or re open itto get the indicators to blink then try to open/close it.

The key has a new battery in it which has been swopped to see if this had any effect, so any help or direction would be great.

Oh and the key was repair at on point about six months ago but even when it was repaired the locking was great it just seems to be getting worse.

Actually mine can be iffy, unlocking is mostly ok but locking it I have to be practically beside the car and this is with a new battery - kinda negates the point of "remote" central locking.
