156 JTD 20v Cold Start Problems
My old man has a 2005 (55 plate) Alfa 156 2.4 JTD 20v. When he starts it up from cold it has a bad missfire and sounds like a tractor. However when it warms up it runs normally.
I'm quite mechanically minded and seeing as he's used Tesco fuel for all of it's 60,000 miles i advised him to use Shell V-Power and some Millers diesel sport. This cleared up the problem for a while but it now seems to be returning. I suspected some sort of injector problem.
He's taken it to some garage in Cardiff who have tested the injectors and they recon that No 4 injector is putting in too much fuel causing the missfire when cold..........I would have thought if it was shot that it would do that all the time
Where can you get injectors for this engine and does anyone have any recommendations. Do you think an ultrasonic clean would sort it out? Anyone have any other ideas what could be wrong.
And finally how easy are the injectors to remove?
