Brand New Alfa Owner with a Desire for Top Notch Audio!!
I'm lucky enough to have just got my very first Alfa Romeo in the form of a gorgeous '02 147 2.0 litre twin spark Lusso in Black and without going on and on about it I am over the moon with it!!!
Now to my question;
I recently removed the blaupunkt stereo that came factory fitted, I was having horrid issues with CD skipping even over the tiniest of bumps and I also fancied iPhone/iPod compatability.
I bought and fitted a Kenwood KDC-W7544U and have been relatively happy with the way it looks and the way it works, however I'm really unimpressed with how it sounds.
Being an honours student for Audio Production I may have higher demands when it comes to the quality of my tunes, but I was actually very happy with the original stereo's sound.
I've fiddled with the settings of the kenwood and will be phoning them tomorrow for some 'straight from the horse's mouth' advice but I'm sceptical as to how much the sound can be improved so I'm pretty decided on selling it and getting another solution.
So, fellow alfa owners, what do you guys suggest? I hear Alpine is a way to go?
Just to clarify, the sound quality is paramount, but I HAVE to have it with red illuminations to match the interior and ipod/iphone compatibility is highly preferable.
Also, is it possible to retro-fit a bose system, possibly from a scrapped 147? I've been vaguely told that the head units are tied to the ECU of the car but I'm not sure if there's a relatively un-costly way around this?
Thanks in advance!
Also, any tips tricks or general advice about ownership of my lovely 147 are very welcome!!
