Just a short update for anyone who have been following my moans......
Picked the car back up on Saturday after having a lengthy convo with the aftersales manager (managed to keep calm and remain polite, however, due to the desk being open to the showroom couldn't help but notice how people stopped chatting around us for a wee ear-wig)
24hrs after getting the car home the rear wiper motor packed in......nobodys fault. I quickly taught myself how to dismantle the back end of the car and further completely strip and clean the entire motor ......including brushes (all of this after a 14hr working day....not what I needed). The main shaft that blade is mounted on was siezed with rust.
Anyway, have just been back on the phone to customer relations who promised they'd look into it. Hats off to the fella I spoke with, true to his word, within 10 mins he called me back. The dealership apparently stood fast on how much they were charging me as they had already given me 'considerable discounts'......I couldn't afford to pay the whole bill off on saturday however managed a wedge of it. As a good will gesture from Alfa customer relations, they have offered to cover the remaining balance for me.....which I have to say has just lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders.....
turns out Bob Hoskins was right all along.........'It's good to talk!' the right people anyway

whoa thank goodness they came through!
lucky man, a small word of advice, in my experience going to any 'main dealer' regardless of marque is not worth anything. SGT are great but they charge enough that they should be great!
always take your car to a reputable independant specialist, ask on here to see who's got rep near you. I found someone through word of mouth and am very happy, short version, he consistently charges much less than dealer and even the other indy near him,, he even throws in mini freebies when he has time, like reparing my wiper motor for free and not charging for a new one!

Lucky that's just the Aux belt, I'd recommend the belt, tensioner and idlers are replaced.

these are the items that required changing for the sake of that pump.....
16 x rockers
16 x tappets
1 x water pump
1 x head gasket
1 x sealing gasket
4 x rigid pipes
3 x cover sections
1 x aux belt
protection (whatever that is!!)
1 x timing belt
1 x belt stretcher
1 x fixed tightener
and 1 ltr of paraflu

unfortunately the usual paranoia has set in ref noises coming from the car, I further now have to try and recover somemore of the costs. I am in the process of putting on the market so there will shortly be a bargain on there for someone.

If you care to look at the sticky thread on this topic you'll see the problem of seizing waterpumps is not unkown.

I'll add you to the list. I assume you're 147 is 5 years old and has covered 72,000 miles at point of failure? (not when the belt was last changed). If different please advise.
