a couple of months ago the engine on my dear 147 has gone to the scrapyard - the gasket had a leak the engine overheated and the cylinders were deformed.
I opted not to do a rebuild, because of the cost but rather to get a recon engine.
Sadly, my local garage (or any other place around here) didn't find a 147 105bhp TS engine for the last few weeks - he only got 120bhp TS engine.
After talking to him, he says he can install the 120bhp TS engine, and just not connect the variator - and it will behave like a 105 bhp TS.
However since I really would like some extra juice and I really don't want to have a 120bhp car which is actually 105 bhp I asked him if it possible to actually swap the 105 for a 120 bhp engine.
He said - Yes, but he need to remap the ECU and change the connector/harness between the ECU and motor. However, now (a week later) he cannot find the above mentioned connector/harness.
So a few questions
a) does the overall process of swapping the 105 for a 120 bhp engine make sense for the 147?
b) What does the process involve - i.e. do I really need to remap the ECU? Do i really need a new harness/connector?
c) If yes, where I can order the above mentioned harness/connector, what is the exact part name? I can order from the UK and ship international.
d) any other tips, ideas, etc.. will be great.
Thanks in advnace,
Really need assistance as I'm missing my alfa
p.s. I'm not from the UK so can't go to all the "local" places
