147 2.0 broken engine

I need some basic help with my engine that spun the no 3 and no2 big end shells.

The conrods for those cylinders look rather black like they got overheated or something .
As I am rebuilding the engine, can I still use these old conrods or do I need to get new ones ?

It depends how bad they are, but I'd replace them. You probably need to replace the crankshaft as well.

I'd get them to an engine workshop and ask there advice, there is a chance you can reclaim the conrods and get the crank reground...
Take it into them and ask opinion it will work out cheaper than buying new...

if those have been damaged then check all the cam lobes for wear too.
