I have a 2000 156 1.8 Veloce, canít afford to do the shocks right now, but after some half decent coils that will work ok with the standard shocks and give a slightly lower ride height.
you still have to pay for springs to be fitted ,false economy,i personally would save ya money and get some shocks to go with springs reason is as follows:::::
alfa romeo being typical italian tend to over spring and underdampen their shocks
so what happens when you put uprated springs on ,yes you got it,,shocks cant even control them neither,,crashier ride and if you got veloce springs on as standard ,not much difference in ride height
few lads on here just replaced shocks with decent units and yes their handling has improved somewhat, not crashy over bumps etc car holds up better in corners, roll in corners controlled better
so my advice pay some money fit decent NAMED kit ,fit once and enjoy pleasures
