Heater wont work after head rebuild!
I have a 156 2.0l JTS face lift. I have checked the site for fixes to Heater problems and tried them over this week to no avail.
My cam belt snapped (10k befor due to replace!). The garage rebuilt the head, water pump and flushed the water system.
They mentioned when I picked the car up that the heater was not working but that the heater box is getting hot.
I tried moving the spliter flap which gave me hot air but only till I stopped the car. When I came back to the car next day it was blowing cold again. All the switches seem to work and I have had the vacuum cleaner to the vents for the temp sensor to make sure they are not blocked. I get no air flow to the windscreen at all.
The garage mentioned that when the battery was charged and reconnected they got loads of error codes. Could it be an ECU problem? The climate control system must have an ECU but I am not sure if it is posible to reset it or if the work might have fried it or am I completly on the wrong track with this thinking.
A little information about the head repair for those it may concern:
All valves replaced, Head skimmed, belt set, water pump, drive wheel, water system flush, engine flush filter and oil. Variator checked ok and big end shells not replaced. £400 labour and £750 parts £1150 total. Was quoted online for a 38k engine with new belt, inc. fitting £1500. It was a close call which way to go. If the big end shells needed changing the replacement engine would have been cheaper.
Thanks for any help
