Head Work and Shells
Why is it that people on all the alfa forums suggest that whilst doing a head job on a twin spark, the big end shells will need to be replaced.
I am an indie in East Yorkshire, and I have done 30 or so cambelt snapped jobs on various sizes of twin spark and NOT ONCE have I ever done shells.
No car I've ever repaired has EVER come back to me with a big end noise.
It ****** me off to see people spend money on something that is not necessary.
I assume that someone has had the misfortune to suffer a snapped belt and have big ends go two weeks later. That could have been due to any number of problems not even related to said snapped belt. People then put 2 and 2 together, come up with 5 and start scaremongering.
There, had my rant for a Saturday night when I'd rather be out...... LOL
