I am a new Alfa Owner, always wanted one but the price was so prohibitive in Australia, so when i moved out here i had to get one
! Sorry to say however my first post has to be a PLEASE HELP!
I have a 147, which like in some of the other threads had some issues with the unlock via the remote during colder weather. The strange part was that the boot open and lock buttong would still function. As of a couple of days ago, this seems to be permanent, i simply can not get the car to unlock (locking and boot release still work fine off the remote key). This causes many issues as I have to set the alarm off every time i want to get into the car (really do not want to keep waking the poor neighbours new born every time i want to go for a drive
I changed the battery on the remote key and checked all the connections, the little red light functions when i press the unlock button (or the other buttons on the remote). I do not have a spare key or the owners manual / key code card. I also took the key to a locksmith who checked the buttons and told me they were all emitting signals! Not sure what to do! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I read in some other posts that checking the fuses may help. Can anyone please tell me if there is a particular fuse in the fuse box relating to the alarm system? I do not have a scematic of the fuse box to state which fuse relates to what
The other option i am entertaining is disabling the alarm (from some other threads sounds like i gain access via the LH wheel well and remove some covers etc to gain access and disconnect cables). I have some concerns with doing this, will this also disable the immobiliser? My friend also suggested that dsabling the alarm may cause the main computer to get confused and not allow the car to start, does anyone have any experience with this? I would prefer to avoid doing this, but i simply can not continue to annoy that poor baby!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
