I'm a newbie here, glad to find the community!
I bought a 147JTD from 2001 a few weeks back and everything has been running fine, until I went around a fast, sharp bend on a highway junction and something on the right side rear suspension failed and things got very wobbly, very quickly. Thankfully, my cat-like reflexes saved myself and my girl from being smeared up the side walls.
Basically, the backside strut of the lower wishbone to the right-rear wheel had come off its mounting and was banging about, with the wheel itself just about hanging on. I managed to fix it by taking the wheel off and hammering it back into place to get us home. It's just come back from the dealer, who's basically botched a weld to secure it on, but there's little else holding it in place.
I compared it with other models and later versions (post 2004) have a large washer preventing this from happening, while the earlier models have a much smaller washer, not wide enough to stop the arm from coming off.
Has anyone else seen this issue? This looks like a serious design flaw in the early models which was later picked up and fixed. I think I'm going to get these washers replaced, or at least see if I can pick some up and replace them myself.
Any help appreciated
