driving a sele for 9 years now (!) I know about the praying, although it only happened twice that
my 156 got posessed with an evil gremlin ! after killing the engine and some cursing (does that count as prayers ?) it started and behaved normally again. It is one of the reasons I started to study the system and buying an OBD cable and Alfadiag (my brother is chief mechanic in an alfa dealership and has the Examiner, but I don't want to be dependent)
Once you understand the working and the sensors , you feel a bit more relaxed.
2 rules of thumb
1. check the tutella level (attach an overflow bottle)
2. a healthy 65 AH battery (install an amp and volt meter)
Rarebear 'fastest piston engine airplane in the world' 4000 hp twinspark (!) radial engine.
