Just had my facelift 156 in for some work on the suspension due to a knocking felt on the front o/s at speed. got some new powerflex arb bushes and a n/s upper wishbone fitted but what the biggest surprise was what happened when the bushes were getting changed. The bloody o/s drive shaft fell out of its housing!
Apparently there is a castlated nut at the end of the shaft to stop the shaft from sliding and ruining the splines. This has been banging about and causing the knocking. So ive been driving the car since june 09 like this and i dont think what damage would have been done if unoticed. All fixed now and it drives like a dream, handles very tight and would recomend powerflex bushes as a upgrade. It has also erradicated the anoying shaking gear knob too
. Makes me wonder what sort of prat owned the car before me.
