GT fog light failure

Hi Guys

A word of warning.
I took on the job of upgrading the bulbs of my GT Cloverleaf with Osram Night Breakers. Fine until I had a small problem with the left fog light, the ground conector became loose. The car was due a replacement of the drivers seat's base under waranty. I mentioned the fog light to the Service Dept. of Bauer Millet (Manchester) that "had a look" and quoted me 143 to dismantle my left front (wing, bumper and headlight) to replace the bulb! I brought the car back and invested 2 hours of my time (it is a fiddling job) managed to recover the ground wire and reconnect it to the metal ring that establishes connection with the base of the H1 bulb. And guess what, it works!!!!
So be careful, they are out there to get our money!!

well, the most straight forward approach is removing the bumper, then removing the headlight assemblies to work on them at-ease, without potentially damaging yoru back or fingures.

so i think it's fair enough what they quoted - occupational health and safety at stake. they probably quoted a couple hours work, which too is fair enough.

if you can do it for free, that's obviously a major bonus to you - so well done. but i do remove my bumper and light assemblies when i change the globes. there's no cursing and no cut fingers or aching back. it's not that difficult, so you could try that next time too.
