Noise ???????

My Sele sounds like a battery engine, it has a whiring sound when you rev it. engage first and pull away it disappears when the engine is under load ,as it changes into second noise is back until under load again and so on through the gears . Is this clutch related or pulley ? car is driving ok its just not sounding like an Alfa and more like a milk float conversion.
Any ideas.

Off the top of my head I would say it's the clutch release bearing.

My sele was the same, it got to about 70k miles and started making the sort of noises you describe.

Just to be on the safe side you could always disconnect the aux belt and see if the noise remains, if it doesn't then the culprit will be the aux pulley

good luck

I have the same problem with my car, do you know how much it costs to replace the clutch release bearing?
