When investigating a noise from the aux pulleys I discovered it's coming from the air con pulley (as suspected) - it's the inner 'clutch' mechanism at fault (spinning randomly within the pulley) - can this be removed / replaced seperately from the pulley?
Yeah I've been after a shorter belt for a while, although I haven't thought about it for ages.. I had a V6 out the other day as well, but already took the alternator off it. Will take the A/C compressor off first next time and then measure.
Its the weight over the front axle that concerns me more. I think by binning the air con and moving the battery to the boot the car will be better balanced. But the idea of less components being belt driven I like as well, for the power of course
I'd love to take the waterpump off the auxiliary belt as well and use an electric one instead. I think that at high revs the waterpump doesn't work too well as a pump cause its spinning too fast. With an electric one yo'd have better control over the speed it spins instead of it just going at engine speed.
